YARD Playlist

Since streaming has clearly became the go-to way for listeners to discover and listen to music, it’s was just right for an leading cultural media like YARD to have a presence on these platforms. In march 2019, I started and became the lead curator of YARD Playlist.

Every week, I would listen to new music releases and suggestions from the whole YARD team and decided which songs would enter the Playlist. I also worked on the Playlist’s social media strategy and a proper copywriting that would help make it an identified brand among YARD’s ecosystem. I would edit “La Draft de la semaine” (“Draft of the Week”) video content with every of our “picks” that was added to the Playlist. YARD Playlist was made available on all streaming plateforms through a Soundiiz account that I managed. In three years, the playlist built a following of over 9,000 subscribers across all streaming platforms. After I left YARD, it was repurposed to promote the Yardland festival lineup and was temporarily renamed LA PLAYLIST YARDLAND.

In October 2020, we started a new video content to develop the YARD Playlist brand and shed more light on emerging artists. It consisted of short interviews with artists where they would introduce themselves by sharing their inspirations/references, how they started and how they approach music. At the end of the video, the artists would also come and freestyle an unreleased track. This format led to the first interviews of artists like Guy2Bezbar, J9ueve, Maureen, and Genezio—each of whom now has hundreds of millions of streams and has since earned multiple certifications.

For two years, I was fully in charge of this content. After considering suggestions from the YARD team, I would select the talents included in this format, reached out to their management, and scheduled all the shoots, ensuring alignment between the editorial, photo, and video teams. I also conducted most of the interviews, oversaw the editing process, and managed the release schedule for each video. In 2022, we decided to rethink the format with a new artistic direction, where the exclusive track would be released separately on YARD’s YouTube channel.
