Afrodigital: Is electronic music really a “white” thing?
For the first event from Afrodigital collective, I’ve hosted a public panel talk about the misconceptions that led people to think that Electronic music was “white” music. We talked about the African-American roots of electronic subgenres like House and Techno, the newfound mainstream popularity of sounds like Amapiano, and asked what is an “electronic” music in a digital era where most songs are created through machines.
Guests : Célia Faussart (Grammy-nominated singer, half of Les Nubians), Vincent Frédéric Colombo (DJ and Designer, founder of La Creole collective), Ricky Soul (House dancer and DJ, founder of House An Nou) and Nadia Keira (DJ, former member of collective 99 GINGER).
